Dr.Obamba holds the PhD in higher education policy and development from Leeds. He received his MPhil in international and comparative education from Bergen (Norway) before pursing further research training at the international level in various institutions, including University of Uppsala (Sweden), University of Amsterdam, University of Utrecht, and Leiden University (Holland). He is currently Academic Fellow at the University of Leeds Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law where he teaches and conducts research on a range of topics related to education, public policy analysis, international development, and sustainable development. At Leeds, he is also the Academic Lead for Employability for the faculty, working with stakeholders within and outside the University to promote excellent student experience, graduate outcomes, and graduate employability. Dr.Obamba has spent over 15 years researching and consulting on education system and development policy in developing countries, gaining an immense understanding of educational and development challenges in various developing world regions. A dynamic scholar, Dr Obamba has led orparticipated in several research and evaluation projects internationally, including across various sub-Saharan countries. In 2013, for example, Dr.Obamba provided leadership in a study commissioned by OECD to conduct a mapping of research and innovation systems and policies in Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana (see http://www.oecd.org/sti/iherd-final-reports). All the various research and evaluation initiatives led and completed by Dr Obamba demonstrate significant capacity and knowledge of systemic research, public policy analysis, and working with a wide range of development stakeholders and local communities to deliver impactful solutions and insights. Dr.Obamba demonstrates significant knowledge and skills in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and knowledge of analytic software. He is trained and well-practiced in the applications of SPSS™, NVIVO™, ATLAS, and EPPI Reviewer4™, as well as working knowledge of MS Project and PRINCE2™ project management system.
He also demonstrates working expertise in Multi-level Modelling and trained in MLwiN software in multilevel modelling at the University of Bristol Centre for Multi-Level Modelling. Dr.Obamba brings significant expertise and experience in educational and development sciences, pedagogy and training, project management, research and analytical functions, integrated stakeholder engagement and knowledge translation, as well as an in-depth understanding of student employability. All these attributes will be critical for ensuring high quality implementation and delivery of the proposed project.
